It was a Normal day for Charmaine Keevy and her dachshund, Georgien she took her out for a walk in the morning in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. But, by the end of the day, they were heroes.
As the two angels were near a storm drain, the dog began barking at it, keevy can’t see anything but when she heard something like a cat meowing, she got down on her knees to get a better look-she can’t believe herself and wash shocked because she is about saving a life of a tiny baby who was inside the storm drain.
In order to help the girl she stopped Cornie Viljoen, who was driving by the time, the man grabbed a steel bar, and they together opened the heavy concrete slab covering the storm drain. Cornie lowered himself into the drain where he was stung by a colony of red ants.
“When I got into the hole it was higher than my head and it was so narrow that I had to go down on my knees and I couldn’t bend over so had to feel down for the baby below,” he told Daily Mail. “The red ants were stinging my legs but then I felt this baby’s leg and then saw the baby and I realized that this was a crime scene so I took a flash picture and handed my phone up to Charmaine.”
“I didn’t know if the baby was injured so I tried to pick her up very carefully and very slowly and she was so small. I just wanted to hold her for a while but I knew that she needed urgent medical help,” he said. Fortunately, she hadn’t been stung by the ants. But she was naked, with the umbilical cord still attached.
